Economic Development

Belmont provides an excellent environment for commercial and industrial development.

Municipal water and sewer facilities are provided in the Village area as well as portions of State Routes 106 and 3. Municipal sewer is also provided in the Winnisquam and State Route 140 areas. Rezoning of additional land for Industrial development occurred at the 1998 Town meeting.

The Town Property Tax Maps have recently been updated with digital based mapping. This, along with computerization of the assessing records, will enhance services provided for future development within the Town.

Belmont currently has three retail malls (spaces available), two commercial parks (spaces and lots available) and four industrial parks (lots available).

There are many opportunities for residents to serve on civic and government committees.

Financial services are provided by two banks having offices within Belmont. A third is scheduled to open a branch here in the near future.

The Planning Board meets twice monthly and has streamlined the review and approval process to address the timing needs of property owners and developers.

Belmont is committed to the expansion of its commercial and industrial bases and the officials and staff of the Town, along with the Belknap County Economic Development Council, work closely with prospective commercial and industrial developers and tenants through the planning, approval and construction phases.

The Belmont Mill Revitalization Project is completed. This complete renovation of a four-story, 10,773 square foot mill, originally constructed in 1833, provides the Village area with a much needed community service center. A second site, adjacent to the Mill, is available for future commercial development. A Belmont Economic Development Council has been formed and will be assisting in developing Belmont's vision for future development.

Comments and questions should be directed to the Belmont Town Administrator's Office.
